Can cats get hepatitis?

Our calico Maine Coon is 7 and is having serious liver problems. She is jaundiced and has gone from 15 down to 9lbs in a short time. The vet says it might be a tumor, or a cancer but no way to tell with out $$$$ tests (1-2K for an ultrasound and no way to tell if it would show anything). Anyway, they put her on a med that improves liver cell regeneration and a special diet. If it is a tumor/cancer, I know she is done for.
