Can you get multiple items by attaching an item to Ditto and breeding with a Pokemon?

Alas, this was a glitch in the first batch of the Japanese version of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl however it was corrected and isn't in any of the other versions and I doubt later copies of the Japanese Diamond and Pearls. So, I regret to inform you that this is a silly little myth that everyone seems so eager to try and trick people into believing. I've tested it myself, it doesn't work. I'd say the best way to test it is to have a ditto hold said item and breed with the Pokemon of your choice and see if the item is ped down (it wont be) but if you dont believe me or any of the others then I suggest just trying it, the item wont be lost.
