I also wouldn't mess with bacteria being only an IB student in high school, you might not have the knowledge on how to actually prepare and understand what real laboratory conditions really are. I would find data on it somewhere, or pick a new topic. Try the effect of anti-microbials on protists and things of that nature. You can find protists in pond water and if you have a microscope it will make it very easy to see the results.
