Can a musician deduct a charitable donation of recorded music from their taxes?

I wrote a theme song and contributed other previously recorded music for a children's play for a non-profit theater. They estimated the cost at $500.00. They didn't get the funding they were expecting so I did not receive payment and gave the music as a charitable contribution, thinking I could at least get a deduction for the work.
