I'm wanting to sand and varnish our floorboards,but our cat's need to use the catflap. Any idea's?

The room's that we need to sand/varnish have the cat flap attached to the door. And for drying purposes the room needs to be left overnight.. They don't use a litter tray and other family members have cat's already so no chance of a cat mini break.
