Is a degree in Exercise Science Fun and more Hands on?

I like science but am starting to get bored with the repetitive book and test type of courses where there is not much hand's on experience and real world learning. I am very pionate about sports and helping people improve and get back to full health after a devastating injury. And want to learn through experience more than book work. Would a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science before a masters degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy work? Do you know anything about how the cles are usually set up in the Exercise Science degree?
