Bank Notice - Changes in Overdraft Payment Policy - Is this good or bad & should I agree?
What started happening is people were going over say four dollars with two seperate purchases.Say two dollars each purchase. The bank charges 34.00 for each transaction therefore person is paying 68.00 in overdraft fees for four dollars.Sometimes it would be the banks fault for not posting a check in proper amount of time say two days.....as a result however person thinks they have more in account spends four dollars and then is overwhelmed by fees.Bank will generally only reduce fee by half if at all. This is one of the bank's largest profiting ways.So I would opt not to have overdraft.Your card will just decline if there isn't money in the account same with bill paying. What will happen is the purchase cannot be made that simple. With bills you may receive a late fee if bill isn't paid on time but that should be all. So to not have to pay substantial overdrat fees opt out I would much rather have my card declined then pay 34.00 for a mistake.
