Is it safe to paint a baby gate?

I was going to buy a baby corral the super yard XT so my baby can crawl around while I clean and stuff. But I don't like the gray color would it be a bad idea if I painted it? Its plastic and there is a possibility of the baby teething on the side but then again cribs are painted,too. Please let me know what I should know
