Why is it that i dont understand the teen dating scene---even though i am a teen?

it seems that teens only date for the popularity and benifits. i dunno about you, but i any girl i ask out- i already have feelings for. and i dont understand how you could date someone, not have any feelings for him/her, and go through all the affection crap. im sorry, i cant show affection that i dont have. am i just being overbearing?
